As the beloved sister of Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity, Marguerite's own journey was marked by profound challenges, unwavering devotion, and a deep connection to the Divine.
Early Life and the Call to Vocation
Born on January 9, 1884, Marguerite grew up in a devout Catholic family in Dijon, France. From a young age, she exhibited a keen intelligence and a thirst for knowledge. However, her path took an unexpected turn when she developed a debilitating illness that left her bedridden for several years.
During this time of adversity, Marguerite found solace in prayer and contemplation. She poured out her heart to God, seeking guidance and strength. It was through these trials that she discerned her true calling: to dedicate her life to the service of God as a Carmelite nun.
Entering the Carmel
In 1906, at the age of 22, Marguerite entered the Carmelite monastery in Dijon. There, she immersed herself in the rigorous life of prayer, poverty, and obedience. Yet, despite the challenges of cloistered life, Marguerite's spirit soared.
She found profound joy in the liturgy, the study of Scripture, and the practice of mental prayer. Her writings reveal a deep understanding of the spiritual life and a profound love for the Eucharist, the source of her strength.

In 1925, Elizabeth was diagnosed with Addison's disease, a terminal illness. Marguerite remained steadfast by her side, offering unwavering love and comfort until Elizabeth's passing in 1929.
A Life of Service and Sacrifice
Following Elizabeth's death, Marguerite dedicated herself to perpetuating her sister's legacy. She became the archivist of the Dijon Carmel, meticulously collecting and preserving Elizabeth's spiritual writings.
Marguerite also played a key role in the process of Elizabeth's canonization. She provided invaluable testimony to the Vatican tribunal, sharing her profound insights into Elizabeth's life and virtues.
Marguerite's own life was a testament to the power of hidden sacrifices. She accepted every assignment with humility and grace, from cleaning the monastery's floors to working in the bakery.
